Last term Challenge 59 explored psychosocial health through dance residencies with 180 children from across three East London primary schools. This term we are co-producing their 59 second dance films with a health message through our film residencies.
During the week of the 16th April we are undertaking our first dance film residency. Here is a little insight into the film idea of Year 3 at Ellen Wilkinson School.
Our production team is working hard to realise the children’s ideas. Briony is our film collaborator, Raz our Lighting Cameraman and Editor. Liliane is our Production Assistant who is doing an MA in Film and has a dance background. The children are enjoying to learn about the film equipment and some do a great job behind the camera as production assistants!
It is great to work closely with teachers over the dance residencies as well as during these film residencies. A big thank you to them all for believing in the power of arts and dance across the school and giving children inspiration!
One film residency down…… two more to go over April and May!
We can’t wait for children to see their films in June at the premiere event at Rich Mix and share all of their work together!
